Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need prior pottery experience to join?
A: Not at all! We welcome everyone from complete beginners to experienced ceramicists. Whether it’s your first time touching clay or you’ve been throwing for years, you’ll find a place here.
Q: Do I need to be a member to take a class?
A: Nope! Membership is for those who want unlimited studio access and extra perks, but anyone can sign up for our 8-week classes, workshops, and events without a membership.
Q: What’s the difference between wheel-throwing and hand-building?
A: Wheel-throwing uses a pottery wheel to shape clay into symmetrical pieces like bowls, mugs, and vases. Hand-building uses techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction, which is perfect for more organic, sculptural forms.
Q: How long are your classes?
A: Most of our workshops are 2 hours, perfect for a fun evening or afternoon. 8-Week classes run for 2 hours each week so you can dive in and develop your skills.
Q: Can I book the studio for a private event?
A: Absolutely! We host birthday parties, bachelorette gatherings, team-building events, and more. Just let us know your group size and we’ll help you plan a memorable clay day.
Q: How long does it take to get my pottery back?
A: The process—drying, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing—takes about 3–4 weeks depending on humidity, kiln schedule, and studio workload. We’ll let you know when your pieces are ready for pickup.
Q: How do I become a member?
A: You can apply online here and have your name added to the waitlist! We’ll schedule a quick orientation to make sure you’re comfortable with our equipment and policies before you start.
Q: Will pottery make me as cool as Demi Moore in Ghost?
A: We can’t promise Patrick Swayze will show up, but you’ll definitely get the slow-motion clay shots for your personal highlight reel.
